1/11/18: Deftones & Primus

Happy New Year, let’s hope 2018 brings good things, especially to those in genuine need. It felt good to be back in the saddle again. Back in the saddle in the classroom and here in the SCAD-Atlanta Radio studio.

This week’s Compare/Contrast feature was Deftones and Primus. Both bands hail from Northern California. Both bands have pushed the boundaries of heavy rock & roll. On a personal level, both bands have been an acquired taste for me. Both bands have grown on me over the years. Other than that, I just wanted to make sure the playlist had some consistent muscle in order to start out the year strong.

Move On Up In 2018

Far too many people are struggling. Far too many of my friends, the people I care about most, are going through difficult times. I do what I can to help, but I’m always wishing I could do more.

I can be a negative person from time to time, but those are just moments. My overall outlook is quite positive. It likely due to my tenacious spirit. I keep going. One thing that keeps me going is music. I like finding meaning in the right song at the right time. That’s what this post is all about. I send this song out to everyone I know that needs a little help in any way. Happy New Year to you, especially to you. Stay strong in 2018. Stay uplifted as best you can. Don’t let the bastards get you down.

Hush now child, and don’t you cry
Your folks might understand you, by and by
Move on up, toward your destination
You may find from time to time

Bight your lip, and take a trip
Though there may be wet road ahead
And you cannot slip
So move on up for peace will find
Into the steeple of beautiful people
Where there’s only one kind

So hush now child, and don’t you cry
Your folks might understand you, by and by
Move on up, and keep on wishing
Remember your dream is your only scheme
So keep on pushing

Take nothing less – than the second best
Do not obey – you must keep your say
You can past the test
Just move on up, to a greater day
With just a little faith if you put your mind to it you can surely do it

Just move on up
Move on up
But move on up
Oh child, but just move on up
But move on up
Move on up

1/7/16: New Year, New Beginnings

Have a fuzzy new year! Ready or not, 2016 has arrived.

The first Fuzz Factory show of 2016 was loosely themed about the concept of new. New beginnings, new things, new attitudes.

Within the mix, I played a song from a band out of Orlando called Rubble Road. Met members of this band at The Atomic Bitchwax concert last Fall. I told them about this big rock show and they hooked me up a song to play to the world through the internet. Pretty cool.

Tune into the Fuzz Factory tonight for the annual Halloween special. The Fuzz Factory with Brett Callero, 8-10 PM (EST) on SCAD-Atlanta Radio (www.scadatlantaradio.org). Saving rock & roll radio – one week at a time.

Fuzzy New Year

Happy New Year. Tonight is the first Fuzz Factory of 2016. Tonight’s show will feature the standard fare: thick guitar riffs, psychedelic rock twists and spacey grooves. Very tasty rock & roll indeed.

Join me for the new and the new.

New Year, New Start

The Fuzz Factory is back. It’s a new year and a new start for a lot of things in my life (and perhaps yours too). Life is still settling down and many new things are happening at once. Time to celebrate the concept of new with a New Show to start the new year.
