3/9/17: Deep Purple & Aerosmith

Welcome to the Fuzz Factory. Home of thick guitar riffs, psychedelic rock twists, spaced out grooves and more cowbell.

This week the Compare/Contrast feature was two of the heavy hitters in the rock & roll world. Aerosmith & Deep Purple. Both bands have had more than one life. Aerosmith has had virtually the exact same lineup therein entire history. Deep Purple on the other hand have changed members often, with the rhythm section remaining the main constant. Both bands have stretches where one could argue they were the biggest hard rock band in the world. For the set of their music tonight, I featured their best years. Early 70’s for Deep Purple. Mid 70’s for Aerosmith. When both bands were popular but still hungry for more. When they rode the edge in more wats than one, and fell over that edge on more than one occasion.

I also played a few brand new songs as well. They were mixed in with rock and roll released over the last 30 years or so. Umm, yeah, the playlist rocked, but what else would you expect from the Fuzz Factory. Tune in every Thursday night 8-10 PM (EST) on SCAD-Atlanta Radio (www.scadatlantaradio.org).
