4/10/14: The Black Crowes & Drive-By Truckers

creepy_swamp

Yeah, it’s still a little hard for me to believe, but it’s very true. With the exception of a couple of years, I’ve lived in the Deep South since September 2001. It’s been a cultural adjustment for a man like me, a native of Chicagoland. One of the noticeable changes has been my increased appreciation of the Southern Gothic narrative. My awareness and knowledge of quality rock & roll rooted in the southern tradition has been greatly expanded. So that’s why this past week here in the Fuzz Factory I decided to make the Compare/Contrast feature two bands that have set the standard for Southern Rock. I’m referring to Drive-By Truckers (from Athens, GA and Muscle Shoals, AL) and the Black Crowes (Atlanta, GA).

That’s all for now. Make sure you turn on the Fuzz Factory this coming week for the first ever Jesus Show. Yep, the Jesus Show. It’ll be Holy Week, yo. The Fuzz Factory with Brett Callero, bringing you great rock & roll every Thursday night from 8-10 PM (EST).  Served fresh every Thursday. Tell your friends!

This latest playlist shows what you heard (or missed) – two hours of great rock & roll. Check it out.
