5/3/12: Swervedriver

No time like the present. I decided to knock out the playlist right away. Tonight’s show was spectacular as always.

The special feature tonight was alternative rock band Swervedriver. Swervedriver (from Oxford, England) is rightly regarded as one of the best of the original shoegaze bands from the 1990’s.  In my opinion, Swervedriver stands alone. They have a distinctively muscular and psychedelic-like sound that transcends any specific classification. Swervedriver only released 4 full length discs but had many B-sides and EPs. I played a little bit of it all. Rumor has it they are recoding a new CD. This is great news. Swervedriver’s reputation as a great band has only continued to grow over the years.

Geek moment. Back in 2010, I was fortunate to meet Adam Franklin (leader of Swervedriver) at the Earl in East Atlanta. He autographed my copy of Mezcal Head, their greatest disc, and one of my all-time favorites.
Rock & roll radio is still going strong. Get hip to the Fuzz Factory – and if you like what you hear, go tell somebody. Here is the playlist. The Fuzz Factory – Cutting Out The Crap Since 2002!
